Little update from our neck of the woods.
Life has been full of twists and turns. At each curve I try to find how life is working for us.
This school year has found us homeschooling both our 5 year old and 3 year old. Trying to incorporate so much magic into their learning. Being in Alaska, I just looked around and thought, "we live in the most amazing classroom on the planet." So our learning takes us from the coastal tidepools, through the temperate rainforests, and up on the local glaciers.
They are already so jazzed up for learning, it is my hope that through homeschooling we can keep that spark alive and who knows-maybe help them set that spark ablaze over the years!
As many of you know, and for those who are new here, I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Integrative and Functional Nutrition.
You know how when you find your calling in life can be a bit like putting a puzzle together. When you have the right piece, everything just slips into place so easily and effortlessly.
Well that is how Functional Nutrition has felt for me. It is fascinating how the food we take in impacts our health. It is also fascinating complex as this semester I learned just the sheer number of genes involved in absorbing, transporting, metabolizing, and excreting each individual molecule of food. And that is just what science knows about today. Tomorrow we could know a whole world of new information.
In addition to my Master's degree I have also been pursuing a certification in Integrative Wellness Coaching. This has been a year-long training program at the Master's level. I'm happy to say that I just passed my final certification course and exam!!! Woohoo!!!
I have just about a quarter of my coaching sessions completed to become Board-Certified through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). This is the industry's top credential. You can rest assured Coaches who have this designation have been through a rigorous training program that included supervised coaching sessions throughout. As well as this credential signifies a Coach who is committed to uphold a Code of Ethics and continually improving their coaching styles through further education each year.
Like I mentioned before, I'm about a quarter of the way there to this important credential. So stay tuned to find out how you can score some great coaching sessions. These sessions will be perfect for those who may be new to coaching and want to see how coaching can help them improve their lives, align their lifestyle with their goals, and even if you're just contemplating a change in your life and want to explore it more in a safe environment.
This new year finds us moving to a different region in Alaska. One I hope will be just as magical as Juneau has been the past five years.
