Essential Oils a Hoax?

I've had this question myself!

It all started a few years ago. I was new to natural remedies. I was new to the world outside everything I call "westernized." I was single living in northern Minnesota with my beloved pup, Harley. Harley was about 2 years old when I got the notification in the mail from the vet that he was "due" for his yearly vaccinations. I was just starting to venture into the Environmental Sustainability field with my career. Just starting to dip my toes into the water of questioning beliefs I had always held very, very tightly to.

It was here that I started to ask, why did these vaccinations "wear off" in only a year's time? If that is true, then why isn't my doctor sending me yearly notices....? As I asked more questions, it seemed that no one around me had any answers. So I went to the internet. A few quick Google searches yielded a whole lot of answers and a whole lot of tools that had been hidden from me my whole life. I quickly found a Homeopathic Veterinarian that was able to explain every detail to me. And along with what I was learning about our country's food system, I was sadly disappointed my dog's care was in the same boat.

A few years later this knowledge proved invaluable as our new pup, Idaho, contracted Anaplasmosis and Lymes disease at just 4 months old. We were able to work with this Vet to completely cure of these two significantly scary diseases via strengthening....get this....her very own immune system through the use of homeopathic remedies!! I couldn't believe it either, and neither could our regular Vet in town. We took her there just for a good once over after her symptoms seemed to have subside. He told us we were "irresponsible, killing our dog, and he would not be responsible when she would be dead in a week." I was certainly surprised by his reaction to this energetic, alert, pup running around his office. In addition to 2 relapses in which she was able to kick completely on her own, she just celebrated her 5th birthday! Our poor vet was blinded by his ignorance to see that there is a whole world out here beyond the walls of healthcare run by big-pharma.

I was hooked. I wanted more of this!! As I researched homeopathics, I realized I was quickly over my head and needed some formal education if I wanted to truly understand how it all worked....I wanted something equally powerful, equally natural, and EASY!! Not possible, right?

Enter essential oils. I had tried them over the years, with the great hopes that I would see the results I was after, but no luck. I truly believed essential oils were a hoax. So I had already written them off by the time we moved to Wisconsin and our Chiropractor invited us to a doTerra class. But we saw this as a way to meet people in our new town, so we went. We sat there politely. It was in the basement of this Chiropractic office, which was a little musty. My husband started to have an asthma attack. Right at that moment the gal held up doTerra's Respiratory Blend. So he politely tried it, and turned to me and said, "It Worked!" I responded, "Honey, these don't actually work..." He convinced me to try it and I immediately felt my sinuses open up. What? How can this be true?

Well sista, stick around! I will tell you what I found in the next 8 months. We even took a trip to Doterra's Headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT just to see if what we were hearing was true....
