Why Diets Don't Work

Have you started a diet only to find yourself falling off the proverbial wagon a few weeks or even days later? Have you tried everything under the sun but nothing seems to be getting the weight to drop off? (And if you're like me, you have no interest in spending countless hours at the gym to wear off what the kitchen put on.)

Have you heard that "summer bodies" are made in the kitchen, but no matter what diet you pick, you don't see the results you want? Do you think there is something wrong with your genetics and your just as someone called me, "Built like a brick *&*%house." And I think they meant that as a compliment....SMH.

I have been all those places and more! I used to rely on eating as few of calories as possible and running a couple extra miles and the extra weight would fall off. My weight has yo-yo'ed all my life, until the yo-yo forgot to go in the opposite direction again. Enter stress, hormones, life, kids, and that formula is completely thrown out the window!

So I started "dieting" for the first time in my life. I had heard about veggies, I just wasn't that stoked about them. And in our household, meat has always been king. So Paleo became our way of life. But try as we might, we had a hard time sticking perfectly to all the rules. It is just too hard to remember what seed is good and what one is not. So we just went with "meat and veggies." That sounded simple enough for us to follow. But I quickly grew tired of the monotony of meat and veggies. I wanted something more. Something that sticks to my ribs in the winter and fills me up!

Plus I wasn't seeing much change in the weight department. Come to find out, that large of reliance on animal products isn't going to help me reach and maintain my ideal body weight, without a lot of exercise. And with a homestead and kids, who has time to leave and go to the gym. No, my workout is doing chores.

This is why "Lifestyle" is what matters long term, not diets that come and go. What is a lifestyle that fits our family, fits our time schedule, fits our accessibility needs, read--->Quick and easy! :) What we needed and I think most everyone else does too is a common sense approach to eating. The waters of nutrition have been muddied enough (and come to find out that is by design. It is easier to sell us junk food when it is disguised as "healthy food" and the tricks marketers have these days leave us all bewildered in the grocery store aisles!)

So I've made it my goal here to give you the knowledge, tools, and confidence to empower you to choose the lifestyle best for you and your family. Through my courses in becoming an Holistic Nutritionist, so much of this has all been made clear. I want to bring you all along with me as we share our Ah-Ha! moments, our mis-steps, and our victories! Fully knowing that no one is 100% perfect when it comes to eating. And who wants to be anyways?
